Tim Richards

Tim Richards (born June 23, 1952 in London ) is a British musician (piano, composition) and author of modern jazz , whose roots are clearly in the blues .

Live and act

After he discovered the piano in his dentist's waiting room at the age of eight, Richards received classical lessons. At the age of fourteen, after seeing Otis Spann and Thelonious Monk on television, he taught himself the jazz piano on an autodidactic basis . In 1979 he founded the quintet Spirit Level together with Paul Dunmall . The band received first prize at the Dunkirk Jazz Festival after the release of their album Mice in Wallet and toured extensively in Europe in the following years. Spirit Level released a total of seven albums and was nominated as Best Small Group for the British Jazz Awards in 1995 . In 1993 he founded the London Blues Band , which included guitarist Jon Taylor and saxophonist Briand Iddenden. He led the great formation Great Spirit , which included musicians such as Pete King , Ed Jones, Gilad Atzmon , Denys Baptiste , Tony Kofi , Jason Yarde , Roger Beaujolais and Seb Rochford. This group has submitted two albums. He also appears in a trio with bassist Dominic Howles and drummer Jeff Lardner.

Richards continued to tour with blues musicians Joe Luis Walker and Otis Grand. He also played with Jim Mullen , Jean Toussaint , Sigi Finkel and Roland Perrin.
