Tim Salditt (born December 19, 1965 in Neuwied ) is a German physicist .

Life

Tim Salditt studied physics at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (LMU) and the University of Joseph Fourier Grenoble I from 1987 to 1993 . With a doctoral thesis on diffuse X-ray scattering at rough interfaces , he received his doctorate in 1995 with Johann Peisl in Munich.

Following his doctorate, he spent 1996 to 1997 as a postdoctoral fellow in the USA with Cyrus Safinya at the University of California, Santa Barbara .

In 2000 he completed his habilitation at the Physics Section of the LMU and in the same year became Professor of Experimental Physics at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken . Since 2002 he has been a professor at the University of Göttingen .

Work

Salditt's research areas are the structural analysis of soft matter and non-crystalline materials, the self-assembly and collective dynamics of biomolecules , the biophysics of membranes , and methods for studying these systems, including X-ray scattering , coherent X-ray optics , especially waveguides for hard X-rays, as well as ptychography and lensless X-ray microscopy .
