Timocles from Knidos
Timocles ( ancient Greek Τιμοκλῆς ) from Knidos was an ancient Greek sculptor who worked in the second half of the 3rd century BC. Was active.
Today Timocles is only known from the signature on a base made of Lartic marble . This was found in the sanctuary of the goddess Athena on Lindos , so it can be assumed that Timocles was active here. We also know from the inscription that the statue that stood on the base was painted with wax paint by the painter Protomachus .
