Sir Timothy James Alan Colman KG (born September 19, 1929 ) is a British businessman and former Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk .

He comes from the Colman family , who became known as English mustard and sauce manufacturers. He studied at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth and served as a lieutenant in the Royal Navy until 1953 .

In 1951 he married Lady Mary Cecilia Bowes-Lyon (* 1932), sister of the future 17th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and niece of Queen Mum . He has five children with her.

After 1953 he made a career as a businessman. From 1969 to 1996 he was chairman of the Eastern Counties Newspaper Group . From 1978 to 2004 he also held the office of Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk. At times he was also Justice of the Peace . On April 23, 1996 he was knighted as a Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter.
