Tino Weber
Tino Weber (born February 12, 1970 in Merseburg ) is a German swimmer and Olympic participant. The 1.95 m tall and 88 kg heavy athlete started for SV Halle .
Athletic career
Weber is a seven-time German champion: 1992 , 1993 and 1994 over 100 and 200 m backs respectively, 1995 over 100 m backs.
He was also successful internationally.
- At the European Championships in 1989 in Bonn , he won the bronze medal over the 200 m back in 2: 00.54 minutes behind Italian Stefano Battistelli (gold in 1: 59.96 minutes) and Vladimir Selkow from the Soviet Union (silver in 2:00 .02 min.).
- At the European Sprint Championships in Gateshead in 1993 , there was a German double success over 50 m back. Weber was only two hundredths slower than Patrick Hermanspann with 25.78 seconds and won the silver medal ahead of the Swede Zsolt Hegmegi (bronze in 25.99 seconds).
At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , he started over 100 and 200 m backstroke as well as 4 × 100 m medley with the following results:
- Over 100 m back he qualified as a preliminary eleventh in 56.27 seconds for the B final, where he reached 3rd place in 56.49 seconds.
- Over 200 m back he reached the final and finished 6th in 1: 59.78 minutes (the Olympic victory went to the Spaniard Martin López-Zubero in 1: 58.47 minutes). With his 1: 59.40 minutes achieved in the run-up, he would have come in third at the same time as Stefano Battistelli.
- With the season (cast: Tino Weber, Mark Warnecke , Christian Keller , Mark Pinger and Bengt Zikarsky ) he came in 4: 40.19 minutes.
