Bengt Zikarsky (born July 17, 1967 in Erlangen ) is a former German swimmer who was able to win several European championship titles in German relays .

Together with twin brother Björn Zikarsky , Bengt Zikarsky was very successful in swimming in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Her general practitioner is said to have favored this career by asking both of them to swim at the age of 13 because of poor posture. Zikarsky had his first sporting successes at SSG Erlangen , from where he made the leap to the national team in 1987. He later started under coach Klaus Rosenkranz for SV Würzburg 05 (from 1990 there also with his brother).

The two-meter-tall twin brothers had their first joint international appearance at the European Championships in Bonn in 1989 . Together with Peter Sitt and André Schadt , they immediately won the European championship in the 4 × 100m freestyle relay in 3: 19.68 minutes. Bengt Zikarsky then won another European Championship title without his brother at the European Sprint Championships in Gelsenkirchen in 1991 in the 4 × 50 m freestyle together with Silko Günzel , Nils Rudolph and Ingolf Rasch . In the same year he was at the World Swimming Championships in 1991 in Perth as the final swimmer in the 4 × 100m freestyle relay in 3: 18.88 minutes behind the United States . He also took part in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , where he was elected active speaker. Although only used in the preliminary stages, Zikarsky won the bronze medal with the relay and also received the silver bay leaf on June 23, 1993.

At the 1993 European Championships in Sheffield , Zikarsky won a bronze medal with the 4 × 100m freestyle relay.

In the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , he was also with the finals and won it with the 4 x 100m freestyle relay together with Christian Troeger , his brother Bjorn and Mark Pinger in the time of 3: 17.20 minutes, the bronze medal . The German relay was only just beaten by the Russian relay, which won silver; Gold went to the United States. In October 1996 he was expelled from the national team for making insulting statements against DSV association president Klaus Henter . A little later he ended his career.

Today Zikarsky runs a specialist practice for oral and maxillofacial surgery in Nuremberg .
