Economic development

Tirol TV started its activity in 1997. The transmitter of the then organizer LFT Lokalfernsehen Tirol GmbH & Co. KG (formerly LFU Lokal Fernsehen Unterland GmbH & Co. KG ) was the first regional transmitter in Austria that can also be received via satellite. In December 2007, Tirol TV started broadcasting via the ASTRA digital satellite platform. The station reached 75,000 households via cable. In some cases, different content was shown via cable, satellite and DVB-T, programs were broadcast around the clock on cable television, and two hours of advertising and teleshopping were shown on satellite television at 8:30 a.m., 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

In mid-September 2013, RSL Tirol TV Filmproduktion filed for insolvency with the Innsbruck Regional Court.

Since October 2013 a new Tirol TV has been set up in the form of a GmbH with four shareholders. With the new managing director Marlies Witsch, new programs and a new business model were developed. An essential focus is on building a strong, multimedia brand. The aim is therefore not only to provide information via television, but also via the Internet and social media . On 7 January 2014, Tirol TV went on air for the first time with the new concept and the two programs Tirol20 and 90Sekunden . At the beginning of March, the regional editions from six districts followed with an increase in transmission time from twenty to sixty minutes. Since March 26th, the new office space and the new television studio have been located at Sparkassenplatz 5 in Innsbruck. On January 7, 2015, the program 90Seconds at noon was included in the program, as well as the remaining three regional editions from the districts of Imst, Reutte and Lienz one month later. Since September 7, 2015, Tirol TV has also been receivable three times a day via satellite on the channel of the television marketer R9, to which, in addition to Tirol TV, the largest regional broadcasters in every other Austrian state belong. Due to the new broadcast times caused by satellite broadcasting, the main news program "Tirol20" was renamed "Tirol DREISSIG" and "Unterwegs in Tirol" was merged into the areas Oberland, Unterland and Innsbruck / East Tyrol.
