The R9 Regional TV Austria GmbH is an Austrian television marketers since 2015 with its own television program. R9 markets advertising time for the largest regional broadcasters in all Austrian federal states.

Together they reach around 2.5 million households in Austria per month. Since March 2014, R9 has been recorded and reported as a network by the Austrian Teletest . Since mid-2015, R9 has been broadcasting its own television program via satellite under the name R9 Austria HD . Owners are WH Media GmbH (35%), Holzhey Management und Beteiligungen GmbH (35%) and Kobza Media Consulting GmbH (30%)

history

R9 was founded in 2013 by WH Medien ( Wien Holding ), to which W24 belongs, LT1 managing director Wolf-Dieter Holzhey and Kobza Media and presented at the Austrian Media Days 2013. Further cooperation partners are media agencies such as GroupM with a market share of around 50 percent in the Austrian TV advertising market and the national TV regulatory authority KommAustria .

At the beginning of April 2015, a slot for R9 Austria HD was set up on the Astra satellite . The station began broadcasting unencrypted on July 20, 2015. The official start of broadcasting took place on September 7, 2015. Before the official start of broadcasting, current issues of the magazine Österreich Blick were broadcast on R9 Austria HD as a continuous loop. Initially, there was a cooperation with ProSiebenSat.1 Media in marketing .

Offer as an advertising time marketer

The association markets Austria-wide advertising space on the regional channels belonging to R9. Classic commercials and PR areas are offered. A national offer should be made available to advertisers. Since March 2016, the R9 channel has been marketed by IP Austria , which is also the marketer of the RTL Group's advertising windows .

The regulatory authority KommAustria approved R9 in June 2015 as a full program for up-to-date information and news, articles on the topics of culture, sport, business, people, events and society. Around 80% self-produced material should be sent.

Since September 2015, in addition to this program, each of the regional programs, with the exception of W24, has been broadcast daily at set broadcast times for one hour each.

Joint program

As the first joint format, the 30-minute magazine Österreich Blick has been broadcast every Friday at 8 p.m. since June 27, 2014 on all of the above-mentioned regional channels. This program, which sees itself as a service and feel-good magazine, summarizes the highlights from the current programs in all federal states and contains two advertising blocks. Repetitions are shown on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m. and on some of the channels also at other times. The magazine was initially mostly presented by Eva Pölzl and sometimes by Jenny Posch . Eva Pölzl presented the program for the last time on February 12, 2016 due to her moderation work at ORF - Breakfast TV Good Morning Austria from the end of March 2016. The following issues were moderated by Jenny Posch, those of March 25th by Nadine Friedrich . From April 2016, Alfons Haider moderated the show for one year. In April 2017, Jenny Posch and Mona Müller took over the weekly moderation of the regional magazine. In September 2019, KommAustria approved a program change. Since then, a large part of the program has been done with teleshopping programs.

Format development

The first development Austria Blick was awarded a prize by the Romy jury for the best program idea in 2015 . Austria Blick -Inventor Marcin Kotlowski and Eva Pölzl as moderator were awarded.

As of May 2015, Österreich Blick was expanded to include the further development Wirtschafts Blick , a three-minute section on economic news in the form of society reports.
