Tithorea ( Greek Δημοτική Ενότητα Τιθορέας ) is one of three municipal districts of the Central Greek municipality Amfiklia-Elatia .
geography
Geographical location
Tithorea is 150 km from Athens , north of the Parnassus and south of the massif of the Kallidromo and thus occupies an important central position in the valley of the Kifisos . The highest peak of Parnassus, the Liakoura (Lykoreia, 2455/2457 m) is located in the south of the municipality. The Ethniki Odos 3 runs past the village in the valley of the Kifisos. With 149.593 km² it is the smallest district in the municipality. The municipality emerged as part of the 2011 administrative reform from the municipality of the same name, which has existed since 1997.
Administrative division
Tithorea is subdivided into the municipality of Kato Tithorea and four local communities: Velitsa (Βελίτσα), Modi (Μόδι), Agia Marina (Αγία Μαρίνα) and Agia Paraskivi (Αγία Παρασκευή).

With 3,198 inhabitants in 2011, Tithorea is the district with the lowest population in the municipality.
Districts
Kato Tithorea
Kato Tithorea is the economic and cultural center of the administrative center. The train station provides the connection to Athens and also provides access to the important ski areas of Parnassus. Kato Tithorea is also the seat of the administrative unit.
Velitsa
Velitsa offers many attractions first of all there are many old houses in the village, the ancient wall and the traditional water mill at the gorge of Kachala (φαράγγι του Καχάλα). In the chapel Ai Janni (Άη-Γιάννη) there is a mosaic floor from the 3rd / 4th centuries. Century and the forest reserve (Αισθητικό δάσος Τιθορέας) is included in the Natura 2000 program. In addition, there are the little churches of Abba Zosima (Αββά Ζωσιμά), Agi arsali (Αγιαρσαλή) and Agios Georgios (Άγιος Γεώργιος), as well as the cave of Odysseas Androutsos (Οδυσσέας Αστορς).
Modes
Modi also has a number of archaeological remains. These include Roman baths and a quarry, as well as other monuments: a tower from the Hellenistic period, the Avlaki (Αυλάκι), as well as the churches of Agios Athanasios (Άγιος Αθανάσιος) and Matamorfosis tou Sotiros (Μεταμόττφωσης ήτω Στω.
Agia Marina
Agia Marina is known for its monastery, which was built in the first millennium and nestles around the slopes of Mount Parnassus. There are also so-called gournes (bowls - sinkholes ).
Agia Paraskivi
Sights of the place include the old bridge of Magoula (Μαγούλας), as well as the remains of a ceramic workshop and the church of Agia Paraskivi (Αγίας Παρασκευής).
Services and associations
In the administrative unit there are a number of services and also some associations, such as the women's association (Σύλλογος Γυναικών), which organizes different events every year. In addition, the magazine Mathitiki Echo (Μαθητική Ηχώ) is published there, which has been produced every year since 1985 by students of the Lyceum (Γυμνασίου-Λυκείου Κ.Τ.). In 2006, the rescue team Elliniki Diasostiki Omada Parnassou (Ελληνική Διασωστική Ομάδα Παρνασσού) was created, which is based in Modi and is intended to provide protection in the event of natural disasters.
