Titus Flavius Sabinus (* around 8 AD; † December 69 AD in Rome ) was a Roman senator , brother of Emperor Vespasian and uncle of Titus and Domitian .

Sabinus was a son of the tax farmer of the same name and Vespasia Polla . He and his brother were the first in their family to serve in the Senate. Like Vespasian, Sabinus served as the legate of a legion during Claudius ' conquest of Britain in 43 and became 47 suffect consul . In the first years of Nero's rule he was governor of the province of Moesia .

From 62 until Nero's death in 68, Sabinus was city prefect of Rome. He lost this office under Nero's successor, Galba , but received it again under the new emperor Otho . Shortly after Vitellius , the third emperor in the year of the four emperors , rose to power, supported by the eastern legions, Vespasian rose to be emperor. Sabinus supported his brother's claim in Rome and tried to persuade Vitellius to renounce the rule. But his followers forced Sabinus to retreat to the Capitol , where he was captured after a siege and killed at the end of December 69.

Sabinus had a son of the same name who was a suffect consul in 69 and 72.
