Tobias Brandner

Tobias Brandner ( Chinese  百 牧师 , Cantonese  Bai Mushi , * 1965 in Auenstein ) is a Swiss Protestant Reformed pastor and pastor in Stanley Prison in Hong Kong , whose inmates named him "Father Tobias".

Life

Tobias Brandner grew up in Aargau on Auenstein, he attended high school in Aarau , he with the maturity graduated. He then studied Protestant theology at the University of Zurich and did a doctorate in systematic theology . At the same time he worked as a prison chaplain in the prison Pöschwies in Regensdorf . He was elected to the city parliament of Zurich for the Social Democratic Party .

Brandner has lived in Hong Kong as a prison chaplain and university teacher on behalf of Mission 21 since 1996 . First he learned Cantonese , then he began to work at Stanley Maximum Security Prison with 1,400 inmates. He visits prisoners in the workshops and in solitary confinement and campaigns for them. He is also a professor of Western church history and missiology at the Theological Faculty of Chung Chi College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong .

Tobias Brandner is married, has three children and lives with his family on the university campus in Hong Kong.
