Tobias Clausnitzer (born February 5, 1619 in Thum ; † May 7, 1684 in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate ) was a German Lutheran clergyman and hymn poet .

Clausnitzer was born in Thum as the son of a carrner and farmer. From 1642 he studied Protestant theology at the University of Leipzig . In 1644 he became a chaplain in a Swedish regiment . After he gave the field sermon to celebrate the Peace of Westphalia in Weiden on the orders of the Swedish general Wrangel in 1649 , he became pastor there and later also electoral church councilor and inspector of the communal office of Parkstein and Weiden. He died in 1684 as a superintendent in Weiden.

In addition to numerous edification writings, passion and festive sermons, he also wrote some hymns.
