Tobias Rokahr

Tobias Rokahr (* 1972 in Walsrode ) is a German composer, conductor and university professor.

Life

Tobias Rokahr studied school music and music theory from 1992 to 1999 at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media with Martin Brauss , as well as conducting at the Detmold University of Music with Karl-Heinz Bloemeke . He was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation. From 2003 to 2009 Rokahr was Professor of Music Theory at the University of Music Mainz , from 2009 to 2013 Professor of Ear Training and Composition at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig .

Since 2013 he has been Professor of Music Theory / Composition at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.

He has directed the Hanover Young Symphony Orchestra since 1997 .

Prizes and awards

  • 1997: First prize in the composition competition of the Lower Saxony State Music Council with the orchestral piece GEGENFEUER
  • 2004: Award for excellence in teaching from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz
