Tobias Schüfer

Tobias Schüfer (* 1967 in Eisenach ) is a German Protestant theologian and provost . Since April 1, 2020 he has been the regional bishop of the Meiningen-Suhl provost of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM). His office is in Meiningen .

Life

Tobias Schüfer was born in Eisenach, West Thuringia, in 1967. He got involved in the young community , passed the Abitur and served as a construction soldier . He then studied Protestant theology in Halle (Saale) , Tübingen and Jena . After successfully completing his studies, he was appointed vicariate in the Arnstadt parish . From 2001 to 2008 Tobias Schüfer was pastor in Urnshausen in the Rhön . At the same time he accompanied the position as a district youth pastor. From 2008 he was regional director of studies for the vicar training of the EKM and the regional church of Anhalt. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Protestant Academy in the Zinzendorfhaus in Neudietendorf . He was also active as a spokesman for radio devotions for the MDR Thuringia . Tobias Schüfer was elected regional bishop by the regional synod of the EKM in November 2019 .

On June 28, 2020, Tobias Schüfer was introduced to his office as regional bishop of the Meiningen-Suhl provost district, based in Meiningen, in a festive service in the Meiningen city church by regional bishop Friedrich Kramer . Tobias Schüfer is married and has two sons.
