Death parrot
Tod Papageorge (* 1940 in Portsmouth , New Hampshire ) is an American photographer who has made a name for himself with street photography .
Papageorge began photography during the final semesters of his literature studies at the University of New Hampshire . In 1970 he received two Guggenheim Fellowships . At the same time he began teaching. Since 1979 he has been a professor at Yale University ; there he directed the graduate program in photography, which Philip-Lorca diCorcia , Lois Conner , Abelardo Morell , Andrew Bush , Susan Lipper , Gregory Crewdson , An-My Le , Anna Gaskell and Katy Grannan attended.
His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, including in Europe. Works by Papageorge, who also received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts , have been collected by the Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago . He has published several books with his photographs. Carla Bley also brought him in as a spokesperson for the recordings of Escalator over the Hill .
