Todd Buffa

Todd Buffa (born November 27, 1952 in De Pere , Wisconsin , † January 27, 2012 ; actually: Todd Allyn Buffa ) was an American jazz singer and arranger .

Life

Buffa, born in 1952 in the small town of De Pere in the US state of Wisconsin , with around 20,000 inhabitants , graduated from Green Bay East High School and studied at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay . He then moved to Colorado .

For nine years he directed the vocal ensemble Rare Silk , which he founded in 1978 with Gaile Gillaspie, Marylynn Gillaspie and Marguerite Juenemann. For a vocal version of Freddie Hubbard's composition Red Clay , he received a Grammy nomination in the category of best vocal arrangement ; Rare Silk received two further nominations in the category of best vocal performance . In the 1980s, Buffa toured with the ensemble a lot. a. with performances at New York's Carnegie Hall , the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Caesar's Palace in Atlantic City and the Monterey Jazz Festival as well as in Europe. In 1999 he returned to his hometown of Green Bay, Wisconsin , and began teaching singing. In 2010 he released the solo album Curious Orchids .
