Todd Michael Muller (* 1968 in Te Aroha , Waikato Region, New Zealand ) is a politician with the New Zealand National Party . After he resigned from his office for health reasons after just 53 days on July 14, 2020 and thus two months before the next parliamentary election, he is the party leader with the shortest term of office in his party. He was succeeded by Judith Collins .

Life

Todd Michael Muller was born in Te Aroha in 1968 and grew up in Te Puna , a small settlement a few kilometers west of Tauranga on the Bay of Plenty . He attended Tauranga Boys College and the University of Waikato for his studies, which he completed with a master's degree .

Muller held management positions in the Zespri Group and in the Apata company , both of which process kiwi fruit , and was most recently Group Director Cooperative Affairs at Fonterra .

politics

Muller has had a seat in the New Zealand Parliament for his Bay of Plenty constituency since September 20, 2014, and became his party's leader and opposition leader in parliament on May 22, 2020. Since that time he has also taken on the role of spokesman for Small Business and National Security & Intelligence for his party. Muller resigned from the office of party leader on July 14, 2020 for health reasons.

Muller is married to Michelle Muller and has three children.
