Mike and Todd Shane (both born December 21, 1967 in Galesburg , Illinois ) are American twins. The two brothers are wrestlers and together form a tag team that is best known under the names The Shane Twins and The Gymini in WWE and TNA . However, it also appeared in various other leagues as The Crashers , The Johnsons , Phi DeKappa U and The Regulators .
Career
The two brothers played tennis during their high school years and then studied at Northwest Missouri State University .
The two identical twins were trained in the wrestling school of Dean Malenko in Tampa , Florida and made their debut in 1998 in the WXO league, founded by Ted DiBiase , and various independent leagues in Florida. Her first successes were winning the IPW Tag Team Championship five times. During this time they were allowed to compete against the legendary Road Warriors and The Nasty Boys , among others . They also made appearances in the short-lived Xcitement Wrestling Federation .
Although they occasionally competed in individual matches, they mostly worked as a tag team under various names. Mike Shane was allowed to win the IPW Hardcore Wrestling TV Champion in 2001 when his brother had to take a break from injury. Todd Shane won the 2004 NWA Florida Heavyweight Championship for this. In 2002 they won the Jersey All Pro Wrestling JAPW Tag Team Championship .
In 2002 they were active in the newly founded promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling . There they brought the NWA World Tag Team Championship , which they had already received. They became known there as The Johnsons. The two had a sexually connoted image that was one of TNA's worst gimmicks . They appeared in skin-colored latex costumes that were supposed to be reminiscent of penises. After a few weeks they left their doctorate. Their belts were stripped from them because TNA had acquired the exclusive rights to the NWA World Tag Team Championship.
From 2002 to 2005 they performed independently, especially for NWA Florida , until they were able to conclude a development contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2005 . There they were first used at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and Deep South Wrestling , on January 6, 2006 they made their debut under the new tag team name Gymini as a companion to Simon Dean in WWE SmackDown . They then competed for the WWE, where they were mainly used in house shows and dark matches . At SmackDown! they rarely performed. In terms of wrestling, actually a well-rehearsed tag team, the gimmick was mainly to blame for their failure. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter voted the gimmick the worst of its kind in 2006. When Todd Shane also injured himself, Mike joined Deep South Wrestling. After the injury break, the two were able to win the tag team title there. However, they were not brought back to the WWE, instead their contract was terminated on January 18, 2007 and the two brothers fired. From 2008 onwards they mostly competed for the World Wrestling Council .
Today they both work as bouncers.
