Tolino vision 3 HD
The Tolino vision 3 HD is an e-book reader from the Tolino Alliance consisting of leading German booksellers and Deutsche Telekom . The tolino vision 3 HD is sold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Tolino vision 3 HD is the successor to the Tolino Vision or Vision 2 . The design and size of the Tolino Vision 3 HD do not differ from the immediate predecessor of the e-book reader.
The "water protection" already known from the previous model is also available in the Tolino Vision 3 HD. The special “tap2flip” scrolling function is also part of the functional scope of the tolino vision 3 HD. The e-book reader has a Hall sensor .
Significant hardware change (compared to the tolino vision 2): The tolino vision 3 HD is equipped with an E-Ink Carta display that has a resolution of 1448 × 1072 pixels in HD quality (300 ppi). The same display was installed in the Tolino Shine 2 HD . The capacitive 6 ″ touchscreen is unchanged.
The direct successor to the Tolino vision 3 HD, the Tolino vision 4 HD , appeared in November 2016 . The device is technically identical, but offers a night mode and twice the memory of 8 GB.

Water protection
The tolino vision 3 HD is waterproof, which should not be confused with waterproof. The water protection is achieved by a special nano-sealing ( nanotechnology from the company HZO) and by sealing all plug-in contacts inside. This means that water can penetrate into the e-book reader and run out again without damaging the e-book reader. According to HZO, the device achieves a protection class of IPX67 (dust-tight, complete protection against contact, protection against temporary immersion) and IPX7. According to the manufacturer, the water protection should be sufficient for 30 minutes at a depth of one meter in fresh water . The tolino vision 3 HD should also tolerate other liquids if it is rinsed off immediately after contact and dried for 48 hours.
Tap2flip
Tap2flip is a feature that allows you to turn the pages with just one hand. To do this, the reader taps the sensitive back of the tolino vision 3 HD with one finger and the e-book reader switches to the next page. A shock sensor is integrated in the back of the Tolino vision 3 HD, which enables this function. Accidentally turning the pages is unlikely, as a certain amount of pressure is necessary to trigger the sensor button. There is also a delay mechanism so that you don't accidentally turn the page twice. Scrolling back or accessing the menu via the tap2flip is not possible. The protective cover for the tolino vision 3 HD was designed in such a way that the back remains open and the tap2flip function can be used despite the protective cover. The tap2flip function can be switched off via the menu under "Settings".

The tolino vision 3 HD has three hardware buttons: one to switch the device on / off, one to switch the integrated lighting on / off and a “ Home ” button that leads to the top menu level (start page). On the underside of the tolino vision 3 HD there is a micro-USB port and a " reset " button that can be reached with a thin, pointed object. The tolino vision 3 HD is delivered from the factory with the tolino eReader software version 1.7.1. An update to the new software version 10.1.0 is offered. As with all other Tolino devices, the e-book formats EPUB , PDF (with and without copy protection) and TXT can be read on the Tolino Vision 3 HD. E-books can be purchased via the e-book shop integrated on the e-reader at the respective tolino bookseller from whom the device was purchased. E-books can also be purchased from other booksellers via the integrated browser of the e-reader. A compatible e-book format is required for opening. The e-books of the public lending libraries can - unlike the Kindle e-book readers from Amazon - be opened with the Tolino Vision 3 HD. The Tolino Vision 3 HD (like its predecessor tolino vision 2) has free access to Telekom HotSpots in Germany. The current Tolino Vision 3 HD has the standard connection to the Tolino Cloud (tolino's online storage space) as well as the 25 GB additional cloud storage for e-books. The Tolino Vision 3 HD can be connected to a PC using the supplied micro USB cable or to a USB power supply unit (not supplied).
