Great (unit)
Toll , with Tall referred, was a counting measure in the Prussian Konigsberg and played in trade with yarn - strands a role.
When the yarn was wound onto the counting reel , a number of so-called threads that differed from region to region were tied or tied to form a bundle (hence the name “bundle”). A certain number of bundles finally formed the finished strand of yarn. One thread was measured by one full turn of a reel. The thread length was therefore dependent on the circumference of the reel.
- 1 thread = 3.5 ells of the reel circumference
- 1 bundle = 40 threads
- 1 Toll = 10 bundles = 400 threads
- 1 piece = 2 Toll = 20 bundles = 800 threads
- 1 Spuhl / spool / yarn Reel = 2 pieces = 4 Toll = 40 = 1600 yarn packages
