Tomáš Ortel (born December 26, 1975 in Pilsen , actually: Tomáš Hnídek ) is a Czech right-wing extremist singer and drummer. He is co-founder and main songwriter of the neo-nationalist band Conflict 88 and the hard rock band Ortel .

Life

In 1994 Tomáš Hnídek founded the Nazi band Conflict 88, the number code stands for Heil Hitler in neo-Nazi jargon . Hnídek is both a drummer and one of the band's two singers. With Conflict 88 he played a demo and five albums from 1994 to 2007. In 2007 the band played at the so-called Fest der Völker of the right-wing extremist party NPD together with the German band Sleipnir and the British Brutal Attack . The performance was marketed as a DVD by the German right-wing rock label PC Records . In 2009 a split CD was released with the German band Sachsonia . After a long break, her last album to date, Zlámaná Křídla , was released in 2015 . The band, which is still active today, is observed by the Czech domestic intelligence service Bezpečnostní informační služba (BIS) and classified as neo-Nazi.

Ortel himself was considered the band's moderate neo-Nazi. In 2002 he founded the hard rock band Ortel, which focuses more on rock sounds. Her song Hadr became the official anthem of the right-wing extremist party Dělnická strana (DS), which was later banned . Ortel is lyrically less offensive than Conflict 88, but it fuels fears of strangers and is Islamophobic. While Ortel surprisingly came fourth in the renowned Czech music award Český slavík (Czech Nightingale) in 2014 and second in 2015, Tomáš Ortel came third in the category “Artist of the Year”. In front of him were record winners Karel Gott in first place and Tomáš Klus in second place. The award was received with skepticism in the Czech Republic and the rest of Europe.
