Český slavík

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Český slavík ( German : "Czech Nightingale") is a Czech music award. It was awarded for the first time in 1996 and is the successor to the Zlatý slavík , which was awarded from 1962 to 1991 in what was then Czechoslovakia . The award of the audience award was transferred to ČT1 in 1996 . Since 1997 it has been broadcast on the private broadcaster TV Nova . In 2018 the price was suspended.

Record holder

The record winner is Karel Gott , who was awarded 19 times, together with the previous award even 40 times. In 2015, he insisted on accepting the award in person despite serious illness. Also Lucie Bílá received the award for the 18th time. The hard rock group Kabát received a total of ten awards in the band category.

Controversy

The second place in 2015 for the right-wing extremist band Ortel , who received the award in the year of the refugee crisis , of all places, was controversial . In the run-up, critics had tried to prevent the band from performing, but failed due to the unwillingness of the organizer Musica Bohemica to disqualify the band. However, Řezník , rapper and fictional character of the director Martin Pohl, who was nominated in the Internet Star category and whose vulgar and provocative texts were too sensitive for the organizer , was disqualified in 2013 . This decision was also controversial.

Sponsors

The Mattoni mineral water brand has sponsored the audience award since 1999, which is why the award is also known as Český slavík Mattoni (English: “Mattoni's Czech Nightingale”).
