Kabát (German: Mantel ) is one of the most commercially successful Czech rock bands. They play a style influenced by hard rock , arena rock and pop . The band was formed in 1983. In the beginning the band played thrash metal , which was not tolerated by the communist authorities of the time. That is why there were no public concerts in the first few years. In 1985 the band split up for three years. It wasn't until May 1, 1988 that the band members got together again to play Thrash Metal together again as they were used to. Gradually, the music developed from harder rock to something between country and the current style. Since 1988 there has been no change in the composition of the band members.

In 2007, Kabát represented the Czech Republic when the country first took part in the Eurovision Song Contest with the title Malá dáma , but did not get beyond the 28th and last place in the semi-finals.
