Mikolas Josef ( Czech Mikoláš Josef , born October 4, 1995 in Prague ) is a Czech musician and model .

life and career

Mikolas Josef was born into a musical family, grew up in Prague and Znojmo , and started playing guitar at the age of five . He attended an English school in Prague, which he graduated with top marks. At the age of 17 he received the gold medal for solo acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art . In the same year he began modeling for Diesel and Prada and when he ended his modeling career after nine months, he devoted himself to music. He toured through Prague, Vienna , Zurich , Hamburg and Oslo . He released his first single, Hands Bloody , in 2015. Other songs were Free and Believe (both in 2016). He then lived for a year in Vienna, where he was promoted by Nikodem Milewski .

He applied with his fourth song, to which Milewski also contributed, to the Eurovision Song CZ 2018 , the Czech preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 . His contribution Lie to Me was included in the six final songs. On January 22nd it was announced that he had won the jury voting with 68 out of 120 points and a week later it was announced that after the online voting results had been counted, he would represent the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest . At the final of the competition, he finally achieved sixth place and thus the best placement for his country to date.

Mikolas Josef has been under contract with Sony Music's RCA Records label since April 2018 .
