Tomáš Ruller (born March 15, 1957 in Brno ) is a Czech performance and multimedia artist .

life and work

Tomáš Ruller studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague from 1976 to 1982 and obtained his master's degree in 1982 with the work “Neither Weapons, Nor Power, Only Art Outlasts Time”, inspired by the astronomer Tycho Brahe . 1983 to 1986 he co-founded the "School of Attention / East - West Study Project" and from 1986 to 1990 of "Black Market International", a group of performance artists . Tomáš Ruller has been Professor of Performance, Video and Multimedia at the Technical University of Brno since 1992 .

Since 1989 Ruller has shown his performances in Israel, Canada, Japan, the USA (also in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco) and at documenta 8 in Kassel.
