Tomás Costa (born January 30, 1985 in Rosario ) is an Argentine football player .
Career
Costa began his career at his hometown club Rosario Central , where he made his first team debut in 2006. In mid-2008, he moved to Europe for a transfer fee of 3.2 million dollars and signed with the Portuguese first division club FC Porto . The right midfielder made his debut in the Portuguese top division on August 24, 2008 against Belenenses Lisbon . He was substituted on in the 74th minute for Freddy Alejandro Guarín Vásquez . The game was won 2-0. He also made nine Champions League appearances this season . FC Porto became Portuguese champions. The title success was repeated in the following season, and the Supercup and Cup were also won.
After these two successful years in Portugal, the Argentine switched to CFR Cluj in Romania on loan in August 2010 . Already in the winter break of 2010/11 he left the club after only six missions. He went on loan to CD Universidad Católica in the Chilean Primera División . With his new club he reached the final of the Chilean championship, but lost there to CF Universidad de Chile . In the second leg of the final, he was sent off in the first half.
In mid-2011, the Argentine club CA Colón Costa signed. While he was still a regular there in the Apertura 2011, he was hardly ever used in the Clausura 2012. In mid-2012 he was loaned to Universidad Católica again. There he won again the runner-up in the Torneo Transición 2013. In mid-2013, Católica signed him permanently.
On January 13, 2016, he was introduced as a new addition to the Uruguayan first division club Atlético Peñarol . Costa signed a contract for a season and a half.
In the 2016 Clausura, he contributed to winning the national championship title at the end of the season with the "Aurinegros" with a hit in seven first division appearances. He also played six games (no goal) of the Copa Libertadores 2016 . In the 2016 season he played eight first division games (no goal) and two matches (no goal) in the 2016 Copa Sudamericana .
