Thomas "Tom" James Carroll (born May 28, 1992 in Watford ) is an English football player . The central midfielder was most recently under contract with Swansea City .
Career
societies
Carroll played from 2008 in the youth of Tottenham Hotspur and played in the second half of the 2010/11 season for the third division Leyton Orient twelve games on loan. He made his first competitive games for Tottenham in the group stage of the 2011/12 Europa League . In January 2012 he was awarded until the end of the season to the second division club Derby County , for which he scored his first goal in professional football on his first appearance on January 31, 2012 in the 3-2 defeat against Barnsley FC .
For the 2012/13 season, Caroll moved up to the first team in Tottenham and made his debut on November 3, 2012 in the 0-1 home defeat by Wigan Athletic in the Premier League , after he was substituted on in the 79th minute for Kyle Walker . He came to a total of seven missions that season. The 2013/14 season he played with the Queens Park Rangers , who were playing in the Football League Championship at that time. For the club, he was used in 26 league games and took fourth place with him in the final table, which meant promotion to the Premier League after successful play-offs.
Upon his return, Carroll was loaned to league rivals Swansea City from Tottenham for the 2014/15 season . There he played 13 games and came with the team in the end on eighth place in the table. From the 2015/16 season he was part of the Spurs squad and was regularly used in the league. On December 26, 2015, he scored his first goal in the Premier League in the home game against Norwich City to make it 3-0. In January 2017, Carroll moved to Swansea City. In late January 2019, it was loaned to Aston Villa until the end of the season , but returned to Swansea in early April 2019. His contract in Swansea was terminated at the end of January 2020, and Carroll has been without a club since then.
National team
Carroll came on March 29, 2011 in the 3-0 defeat against the Netherlands to a use for the England U19 national team . He played for the U21 team from 2013 to 2015 and took part in the U21 European Championship in the Czech Republic in June 2015 . There he came on two inserts in the group stage , which the team finished in last place. In total, he scored two goals in 17 games for the U21s.
