Tom Farrell (middle distance runner)

Tom Farrell (actually Thomas Francis Farrell ; born January 18, 1944 in New York City ) is a former American middle-distance runner .

In the 800-meter run of the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, he was fifth.

In 1965 he was English champion, in 1966 US champion over 880 yards . Starting for St. John's University in New York City , he became NCAA champions over 800 m and 880 yards in 1964 and 1965 .

In 1968 he won the 800 m in the US eliminator for the Olympic Games in Mexico City . There he won the bronze medal with his personal best of 1: 45.4 minutes behind the Australian Ralph Doubell , who set a world record with 1: 44.3 minutes, and the Kenyan Wilson Kiprugut (1: 44.5 minutes).
