Tom Kennedy (born July 15, 1885 in New York City , New York , USA , † October 6, 1965 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) was an American actor. He was best known for his comedic roles.

Life

After initially pursuing a career as a boxer, Tom Kennedy stood in front of the camera in a long, 50-year film career in well over 300 film and television productions. In many of them, however, in smaller supporting roles. His film career began in 1915 with a short silent film comedy, His Luckless Love . Kennedy was in front of the camera until shortly before his death from bone cancer. He has had his most notable roles in Hollywood comedies by famous film producers Mack Sennett and Hal Roach . He played several times alongside prominent leading actors such as Mabel Normand , WC Fields , Laurel and Hardy and the Marx Brothers .

His colleague and namesake Edgar Kennedy ("Old Slowburn") was occasionally mistaken for Tom Kennedy, and both were often mistaken for brothers. The two comedians were close friends without any family ties. They often appeared together, occasionally correcting the errors regarding the alleged relationship in a comedic manner.
