Tom Scheffel (born September 20, 1994 in Chemnitz ) is a German football player .

Career

Scheffel had played at USG Chemnitz and TSV IFA Chemnitz until he switched to Chemnitzer FC in 2005 . With the Chemnitz A-Jugend , he rose to the U-19 Bundesliga in 2012 . In the following season 2012/13 Scheffel completed 25 games and scored five goals. After he had already played for the second team of Chemnitz in 2012, he played on August 17, 2013 against SSV Jahn Regensburg for the first time in the professional team. During a test match at the local sports forum against TSG Neustrelitz on June 30, 2015, Scheffel seriously injured the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee and was absent for two years. He made his competitive comeback on August 12, 2017 in the first round of the DFB Cup against FC Bayern Munich . In March 2018, Scheffel suffered another injury with a torn tendon , which meant that he was out until the end of the season. The association did not extend the expiring contract.

During the 2018/2019 winter break, the Wormatia Worms club from the Regionalliga Südwest announced the commitment of Tom Scheffel. However, Scheffel only stayed in Worms until the end of the season and then moved to the Northeast regional division VSG Altglienicke .
