Tomasz Domogała

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tomasz Jacek Domogała (* 1985 ) is a Polish entrepreneur. He controls the engineering company Fabryka Maszyn Famur SA , which his father took over, and is one of the richest Poles. His fortune was estimated at around 450 million euros in the annually updated list of the rich in the Polish edition of Forbes magazine in 2013, which put him and Tadeusz Chmiel in tenth place on this list.

Life

Tomasz Domogała graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Kraków . He then studied at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom . He also holds an MBA from the US Stanford Graduate School of Business . His father is Jacek Domogała, who studied at the technical faculty of the Silesian University in Katowice . He has been in business since 1977. He is a minority shareholder in the Famur ; since 2005 he has also been a member of the supervisory board there.

Real estate scandal

The withdrawn family was reported in the press across the country in connection with controversial land acquisitions in the 2010s. Family members had bought land from church institutions (e.g. the Polish Congregation of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth ) at prices which, according to critics, were well below market values. Existing better offers from other interested parties should not have been considered by the seller.

Entrepreneur

Tomasz Domagała directly and mostly indirectly (through Przedsiębiorstwo Usługowe AB Consulting Sp. Z oo ) controls a group of companies to which several companies belong, including TDJ SA , which controls Famur . The Famur group was set up by Domogała's father, but formally the largest shareholder is son Tomasz. Tomasz Domogała has been a member of the Famur Supervisory Board since 2004 .

Famur

In 1885 the company Frölich + Klüpfel was founded in Eisleben for the manufacture of compressed air rock drilling machines and excavation of rock sections. In 1891 the sister company Stephan, Frölich + Klüpfel was founded in Piekary Śląskie (Upper Silesia). In 1922 the company Stephen, Frölich + Klüpfel AG was established in Katowice . The company name was changed to Piotrowicka Fabryka Maszyn Górniczych SA. After the Second World War the company was nationalized and renamed Famur SA. In 1995, 60% of the shares were taken over by a state investment fund. As part of the liquidation, the Famur was sold to Jacek Domogała for 33 million złoty in 2002 . As a result, Famur took over other companies in the industry.

In addition to the companies Fazos , Nowomag and Pioma , the Famur Group also has a majority stake in two other listed companies that were spun off from Famur in 2011 because they no longer matched the portfolio focus on the mining machine segment : Zamet Industry SA is by its own account Polish leader in the manufacture of industrial steel structures and employs 450 people. The Polska Grupa Odlewnicza SA (PGO) is a group of companies that several companies in the Polish steel and iron industry united.
