Tomb of Finland is a Finnish black , doom and death metal band that was formed in 2009.

history

The band was founded in autumn 2009 by guitarist Jasse von Hast. In January 2010 he finished the first song with Life & Slavery . Later he contacted the drummer Antti Karihtala, whom von Hast already knew through working with other bands, before drum passages were recorded in the Soundtrack Studios and Magnusborg in Porvoo in February 2011 . After it was initially planned that von Hast would take over the vocals, he handed the task over to Ville Lind, who had come to the group through a suggestion from Karihtala. In November 2011 vocal recordings were made in Oulu . In the winter of 2012, a first demo version of the song Death of the Sun was uploaded to YouTube , and Mikko Hannuksela joined the group as a further guitarist. A little later -H- was added as bassist, while Olli Saakeli Suvanto took over the vocals. The band changed their line-up to prepare for the first concerts. The song Death of the Sun was released as a digital single on Spotify and other online providers. A first music video was also created for the song Damnation . Karihtala and -H- left the band and Janne Manninen joined as the new drummer. In autumn 2012, the album Below the Green was mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios , before the band signed a record deal with Mighty Music in winter 2015 . The album was released on this label in August of that year.

style

Raphael Päbst from Powermetal.de wrote in his review of the album that you can hear a melodic and “polished” mixture of Black and Death Metal, which occasionally tends towards Doom Metal. The singing consists of both screams and growls . Peter Mildner from Metal.de also reviewed the album and noted influences from groups such as Dissection (especially the first two albums), Insomnium , Hypocrisy and Amon Amarth on various songs . The singing is a mixture of “parallel growls and hoarse screeching”.
