Tomi Koivusaari (born April 11, 1973 ) is a Finnish musician. He became known as the guitarist and former singer of Amorphis and former guitarist of Ajattara .

Career

Tomi Koivusaari started playing guitar in 1987 at the age of 14. At that time he founded the speed metal band Violent Solution as a guitarist and singer with Jan Rechberger and Esa Holopainen . The band released the demo Paralysis / Individual Nightmare and the EP Period of Depression in 1990 . At the same time he played in the death metal band Abhorrence . After both bands broke up, Jan Rechberger and Esa Holopainen founded the band Amorphis with him . Originally he was only supposed to play the guitar, but eventually took over the vocals as well.

In 1994 Amorphis recorded the album Tales from the Thousand Lakes , in which Tomi Koivusaari was supplemented by singer Ville Tuomi. On the successor Elegy from 1996, the vocals were divided roughly equally between Pasi Koskinen and Tomi Koivusaari, only to pass completely to Pasi Koskinen in Tuonela . According to Pasi Koskinen, this turning away from guttural singing goes back to the fact that Tomi "simply didn't feel like growingls anymore" ().

In 1996 Tomi Koivusaari founded the band Ajattara together with Pasi Koskinen . There he performed under the pseudonym "Samuel Lempo", under which he played guitar until the end of 2006.
