Silent Waters is the eighth studio album by the Finnish metal band Amorphis . It was released on August 29, 2007 in Finland and two days later worldwide on the Nuclear Blast label .

Creation and publication

In July 2005, Amorphis recorded its predecessor Eclipse . Since the band members were motivated and wanted to make more recordings as soon as possible, Silent Waters was recorded a year and a half later in January and February 2007, production took place in February and March at Finnvox Studios . For the first time in the band's history, the line-up did not change between two albums, and the production team also remained the same.

Silent Waters was released on August 29, 2007 in Finland and two days later worldwide. The title track Silent Waters was selected as a single and released on June 27, 2007. About this selection, Tomi Joutsen said in an interview: “I think Silent Waters is a good song for a rock station that may not play hard music. It's an easy listening song, so we took it as a single, although it doesn't reflect the album very well. ”( Tomi Joutsen on July 2nd, 2007 )

In addition to the normal version, there is a limited edition of the album with the additional track Sign , which was already published on the single as a B-side. On 21 June 2007, was Promo of Silent Waters by Release Group QTXMp3 published illegally on the Internet.

style

Silent Waters is stylistically very similar to its predecessor Eclipse . Both the production and the recording team have stayed the same. Tomi Koivusaari said in an interview: "It may well be that we have finally found our own style." ( Tomi Koivusaari on August 21, 2007 )

All artwork for the album was designed by Travis Smith. The cover shows the swan by Tuonela .

The lyrics come from the Kalevala and tell the story of the hero Lemminkäinen . They were translated into English by a friend of the band, Erkki Virta.
