Tomio Kanamaru ( Japanese 金丸 富 男 , Kanamaru Tomio ; born May 13, 1979 ) is a former Japanese cross-country skier .

Career

Kanamaru took part in competitions of the FIS from 1997 to 2010 . He ran his first World Cup race in January 2001 in Soldier Hollow , which he finished in 34th place in the 30 km mass start race. Three days later he got his first World Cup points with 17th place over 15 km. This was also his best result in an individual World Cup race. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2001 in Lahti , he finished 48th over 15 km classic and sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme , he reached 51st place in the 20 km double pursuit race and 36th place in the 30 km mass start race. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2005 , he achieved 61st place over 15 km freestyle, 55th place in the 30 km skiathlon and 14th place with the relay. In 2006 he won the Merino Pattern and the Sapporo International Ski Marathon . From the 2005/06 to 2010 season, he mainly competed in the Australian / New Zealand Cup and the Far East Cup . He took eight wins in the Far East Cup and finished second in the overall Far East Cup in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. In the 2008-09 season he won the Far East Cup overall standings. In the Australian / New Zealand Cup he took three wins and in the summer of 2007 he took third place overall.

Kanamaru was the Japanese champion in pursuit twice (2007, 2008) and 50 km (2008, 2009) and once each over 30 km freestyle (2004) and 15 km freestyle (2007).
