Thomas "Tommy" Dunn (born June 2, 1873 in Falkirk , † June 24, 1938 ) was a Scottish football player .

Career

Tommy Dunn played as a defender between 1891 and 1896 88 times for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the First Division and the other 14 games in the FA Cup included the final in 1896, which was lost 2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday . He then played for the league rivals Burnley FC , with whom he was relegated to the Second Division in 1897 and continued after another use for Burnley in the second division, his professional career in 1897 at Chatham Town in the Southern League . During the season 1898/99 he moved on to Thames Ironworks , second division of the Southern League. He occupied the first rank of the London season with the club in 1899 and also played in the successful promotion game against FC Cowes , winner of the season South-West, with and helped the Irons to rise to Division One.

Dunn, who had acted as left defender at the side of Walter Tranter in 1898/99 , was in the following year at the side of the later West Ham manager Syd King as right defender regular. In addition to seven appearances in the FA Cup, when the first participation in the main competition only failed in the last qualifying round at the rival and later semi-finalist Millwall Athletic , he also played the test match (relegation game) against Fulham FC at the end of the season , in which a 5: 1 success secured the class stay. The transformation of the team to West Ham United for the 1900/01 season took place without Tommy Dunn.

Dunn returned to Scotland after his professional career and ran a funeral home there.
