Thomas "Tommy" Rose (* 3rd quarter 1872 in Breaston or 2nd quarter 1875 in Ockbrook ; † unknown) was an English football player .

Career

Born near Derby , Rose played as a center forward for Langley Mill Rangers in the early 1890s and then for Heanor Town . In January 1894, Rose, who was courted by several clubs, decided to move to Nottingham Forest , which should be done at the end of the season. On January 17, 1894, he met in the first main round of the FA Cup 1893/94 with Heanor Town on his future club. Forest prevailed 1-0 after overtime with a goal from center forward John Brodie . His first appearance at Nottingham Forest he had on March 31, 1894 in a game of the United Counties League (as well as defender J. Cross ); the game in front of 2,000 spectators at Sheffield United ended in a 0-0 draw. A few days later came in a 2-0 win against Newton Heath for the first time in the Football League First Division .

At the start of the 1894/95 season, Rose scored both goals in a 2-1 win against Burnley , and by the end of the season he had six league goals (22 appearances) and two goals in the FA Cup (2 appearances). In December 1894 Rose took over the position in the gate for a league game at Sheffielder club The Wednesday after goalkeeper Dan Allsopp had missed the train. Rose held "repeatedly great" in the goalless draw in the opinion of the reporter. Rose also opened the following season with a brace (5-0 against FC Bury ).

After signing David Smellie , Rose lost his place on the team in late October 1895 and in November 1895 he was signed by Bulwell United . As a result, he still played for Ilkeston Town in the Midland League .
