Tomris Bakır

Tomris Bakır (* as Tomris Akbaşoğlu on November 5, 1941 ; † February 25, 2020 ) was a Turkish classical archaeologist .

Tomris Bakır studied at Ankara University , where she obtained her first degrees. With her husband, the classical archaeologist Güven Bakır , she completed a doctoral degree at the Archaeological Institute of Heidelberg University . There she was born in 1973, one year after her husband, with Roland Hampe with the work The Kolonnettenkrater in Corinth and Attica between 625 and 550 BC. . Chr doctorate. After returning to Turkey, Bakır initially taught at Ataturk University in Erzurum , and from 1977 as an assistant professor. In 1988 she was appointed professor at Ege Üniversitesi in Izmir , where she worked until her retirement in 2010. In addition, she had been the director of the excavations in Daskyleion since 1988 .

Bakır was an internationally respected researcher. She was a member of the German Archaeological Institute .
