The Tongil Street (통일 거리) is a main road on the southern outskirts of Pyongyang in the district Rangnang-guyok . It is also known as the Road of Reunification (통일: Tongil, meaning "reunification"). It is not to be confused with the Reunification Autobahn .

history

The road was built from 1990 to 1992. With a width of 120 meters, it is even wider than Kwangbok Street and has three lanes in each direction. In 1993 a postage stamp was issued depicting the street.

There are various restaurants , cinemas as well as an art gallery and various smaller parks on T'ongil Street . The residential buildings, all of which were built using prefabricated panels , have 20, 25 and 30 floors . A gym opened in October 2012 .

course

The road runs from the south of Rakrang-guyŏk to the border with the Ryŏkp'o-guyŏk district , where it ends at the Nakrang Bridge . Starting at a football stadium, T'ongil Street passes under the Reunification Freeway and finally passes T'ongil Market and is crossed by Songyo Kangan Street .

Lines of the Pyongyang tram and the Pyongyang trolleybus system run parallel to it . Since there are only a few private cars in North Korea , the volume of traffic is relatively low.
