Toni Mörwald (born March 13, 1967 in Krems an der Donau , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian chef , entrepreneur and cookbook author .

Life

Mörwald's parents worked as winegrowers and farmers before they took over an inn in Feuersbrunn . After attending the tourism school in St. Pölten and the hotel management school in Krems, Mörwald worked in France, Germany, America and Spain before returning to Austria. He worked for Reinhard Gerer and rose to be Sous Chef in his restaurant . At the age of 22 he returned to his parents' inn and got a toque from Gault Millau there . In his main building, the Relais & Chateaux Mörwald Hotel am Wagram in Feuersbrunn am Wagram, the 3-toque chef has his institute for dining and drinking culture with a cooking academy with a design and luxury hotel.

In 1994 Mörwald took over the nearby restaurant in Schloss Grafenegg including the castle lounge, bar and castle terrace, and one year later the Hotel Schloss Grafenegg and catering in Schloss Grafenegg. In 1999 the hotel "Villa Katharina" was opened. In 2010 he created five burgers for McDonald’s Austria . In the same year, there was also a collaboration with the Nordsee restaurant chain . Toni Mörwald was added to the list of Grand Chefs internationally and is also active internationally. Mörwald owns 6 restaurants and 3 hotels 1 cooking school as well as a gourmet service catering company and has already published several cookbooks. The Toni Mörwald Palazzo opened in Vienna in 2003, and the Toni Mörwald Palazzo in Graz since 2018.

Toni Mörwald is married to Eva Mörwald and has three daughters.
