Tony Bauwens

Tony Bauwens (born June 5, 1936 in Ronse ; † February 17, 2009 ) was a Belgian jazz musician ( piano , composition ).

Live and act

Bauwens worked from the 1960s a. a. with Roger Vanhaverbeke and Fats Sadi ; In 1974 he became the pianist of the BRT Jazzorkest under the direction of Etienne Verschueren . He also played a. a. with Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski ( Skleroptakin , 1976), and in the formations The Bop Friends (with Nick Fissette , Etienne Verschueren, Roger Vanhaverbeke, Freddy Rottier ) and The New Bop Friends . In the 1980s he continued to play with the BRT Jazz Orkest and Fats Sadi, as well as with the Belgian All Stars Big Band ( The Music of Gasty Meyer - Changing Moods (1981), with the soloists Benny Bailey and Toots Thielemans ). He also formed the Tony Bauwens Sextet ((album Ka Atas , 1983), with Bert Joris , Marc Godfroid , Philippe Venneman , Marc Van Garsse and Tony Gyselinck ). In the field of jazz he was involved in 23 recording sessions between 1973 and 2006.
