Life

At the age of eight, Tony Lindsay started in an a cappella group called Four Of A Kind. He stayed there for several years. In his teenage years the group changed its name and instruments were added.

In 1980 he moved to San Francisco and joined the Danny Hull Quintet as a singer. When Danny Hull left the band, they changed the name to Spang-A-Lang.

Lindsay found Santana in 1991 when they were looking for a new singer. With interruptions he still belongs to Santana today. He has worked on the albums Milagro , Supernatural , Shaman and Shape Shifter and has co-wrote songs such as Migra , Day Of Celebration , Ya Yo Me Cure , Serpents And Doves and Interplanetary Party .

In addition to Santana , he has accompanied musicians such as Narada Michael Walden , Tevin Campbell , The O'Jays , Al Jarreau , Curtis Mayfield , Steve Winwood , Teddy Pendergrass , Aretha Franklin and Lou Rawls at concerts and as a studio singer. He also maintains his own band projects such as Spang-A-Lang, the Tony Lindsay Band and others.

As a composer he supports the organization of the West Coast Songwriters and has been on the board since 2011.

He still lives in San Francisco, California .

In Germany, Lindsay has also performed more often with the tribute band The Magic of Santana since 2012. In 2016 they completed a tour of Spain with the former Santana singer Alex Ligertwood , of which a CD has since been released.
