Tony Wroten Jr. (born April 13, 1993 in Renton , Washington ) is an American basketball player who was last under contract with the Texas Legends in the G-League .

college

Wroten played for the University of Washington for a year . He scored 16.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists and was the first Huskies player to be named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year for this performance . Then he signed up, together with his teammate Terrence Ross , for the NBA draft .

NBA

In the 2012 NBA Draft , Wroten was selected 25th by the Memphis Grizzlies . Wroten played an inconspicuous rookie season. He only came to 35 appearances for the Grizzlies and scored 2.6 points per game. Most of the season playing for the Grizzlies Wroten farm team of Reno Bighorns .

Before the start of his second season, Wroten was transferred to the Philadelphia 76ers . At the Sixers, Wroten immediately received a lot of playing time. So he recorded on November 13, 2013, in his first game on the grid, his first triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. This marked the first time in NBA history that a player had a triple-double in their first game on the grid. In the unsuccessful Sixers, Wroten developed into an important player and improved to 13 points on average in his second year. Due to a serious knee injury, he completed only 30 season games in the 2014–15 season and scored an average of 16.9 points. He returned from his injury in December 2015. However, he was fired from the Sixers on December 24th to free up a squad spot for Ish Smith .
