Too Fast for Love is the debut album by the American rock band Mötley Crüe , which never had a resounding success, but thanks to the good sales of other records such as Dr. Feelgood got good sales. It was released on November 10, 1981.

history

Nikki Sixx wanted to start his own band and split from his band London . In Tommy Lee he found not only a drummer , but also a friend and companion for the next few years. Eventually they ran into guitarist Mick Mars through a newspaper ad . As an ex-bandmate of Mars, the two guys as a " motley crew called" (Motley Crew) is the band Motley Crue called. When the band Rock Candy was looking for a rhythm guitarist, they came across singer Vince Neil and decided not to hire another guitarist. Since Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee had already made a name for themselves with previous bands in LA, it wasn't long before the band got a record deal with Leathür Records. Since this was a small record label, the band mostly had to produce the album themselves, etc. It came on the market in 1981, the year the band was founded, but was re-released after a year (by Elektra Records ).

style

In contrast to other Crüe albums, the album is still slightly punk- heavy, which is due to the fact that punk was very popular during this time. In addition, the lyrics did not deal with events from the life of the Crüe as in later albums, but were still made up texts. It is also noticeable that Vince Neil's voice sounds very young compared to other albums. Often smaller background choirs are mixed with the choruses of the songs, such as B. Too Fast for Love .

Cover

The cover pays homage to the Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers album .

It shows the upper part of a Glamrock-usual Lederhose with a leather belt (which is embroidered with a lot of metal) and hands with gloves on one hand and many iron bracelets on the other.

Sticky Fingers has a similar picture, only with older pants.

success

This album barely achieved any success in the charts, but it sold on as the fan base increased. Despite the bad chart position of number 77, it reached platinum status, which hardly any other album achieved.

Reviews

Despite the low sales figures, it is still often referred to as an important album by critics today. Metal Rules named it 31st best heavy metal album of all time.
