Girls, Girls, Girls is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Mötley Crüe and the band's final breakthrough. It was released on May 15, 1987 and peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

history

With the album Theater of Pain , Crüe slowly achieved international recognition. Now a strong, new album was needed. For this they sat down with their old producer Tom Werman. The songs have a slight blues influence (but still a harder sound) and the lyrics revolve even more around the hard lifestyle of the band. It's all about the typical Crüe life with sex, drugs & rock n roll . Prior to release, Tommy Lee marries Heather Locklear , Vince Neil went alcoholic and served the sentence for the death of Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle , to whom the album Theater of Pain is dedicated. But he only had to serve half of the 30 days in prison. The album was released in May.

Bassist Nikki Sixx wrote the song Nona in memory of his grandmother, whose first name was Nona, who died after a serious illness. Because of his extreme drug use, Nikki Sixx's senses were so clouded that he sometimes couldn't even leave the apartment. Because of this, the rock musician missed his beloved grandma's funeral, so he composed this piece dedicated to his grandmother. With regard to the song Five Years Dead , Sixx was inspired by the songwriting of a book by the writer Bernard Falk, which is also called Five Years Dead and was first published in 1937.

In the lines " Going way too fast / Gonna burn and crash / Valentine's in London / Found me in the trash " of the song Dancing on Glass , Nikki Sixx processed the nocturnal encounter with a seedy drug dealer when Mötley Crüe were on a European tour Performances on Valentine's Day with Cheap Trick in London . In a taxi, accompanied by guitarist Andy McCoy from Hanoi Rocks , Nikki Sixx drove into a district of dilapidated tenements, where the dealer injected him with an overdose of strong heroin, causing Sixx to pass out. After the drug dealer hit Nikki Sixx's chest and arms with a baseball bat in order to unsuccessfully get his circulation going through the pain, the dealer put him in a dumpster and fled.

The importance of the charts

The band's overall goal was to get to the top of the charts with this album. When it looked like the album would climb to the top because of good sales, Whitney Houston released their album Whitney , which hit the charts in no time. So Mötley Crüe had to wait until 1989 for their first number 1 album.
