Torbjörn Zetterberg (born May 10, 1976 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass , composition ).

Live and act

Zetterberg attended the Södra Latins gymnasium and the Fridhems Folkhögskola in Svalöv to prepare for his music studies. Until 2001 he studied bass with Jan Adefelt at the Kungliga Musikhögskolan in Stockholm. Together with saxophonist Jonas Kullhammar , he joined drummer Fredrik Norén's band while studying . From 1998 to 2013 he was a member of the Kulhammar Quartet. In addition, since 2000 he has directed the Torbjörn Zetterberg Hot Five , with which three albums were released between 2002 and 2005. Later albums were created with Ivo Perelman and in collaborative groups with Kulhammar and other musicians. He also worked with Carlos Garnett , Sonny Fortune , Sonny Simmons , Benny Golson , Benny Bailey, and Mulatu Astatke .

Zetterberg decided to take a break in 2010 and retired to a Buddhist temple for more than a year. In 2014 he presented the album Och den Stora Frågan , on which he played in a sextet with previous musicians, but also with trumpeter Susana Santos Silva and drummer Jon Fält . The album Om Liv & Död followed with the same line-up .
