Berdal made his debut in the Scandinavian Cup in Sjusjøen in January 2007 , where he finished 111th place in the classic mass start over 15 km and 131st place over 10 km freestyle. He achieved his first point placement in December 2011 with 24th place over 3.75 km freestyle in Vuokatti . In January 2013 Berdal achieved two top 10 placements in Östersund with tenth place over 15 km freestyle and ninth place over 15 km classic. In December 2013 he finished ninth at La Sgambeda in freestyle. At the Marcialonga in January 2014, Berdal finished sixth. The following year he was fifth in the Marcialonga and a week later he reached second place in the König-Ludwig-Lauf . In the overall ranking of the Ski Classics 2014/15 , Berdal achieved seventh place. In January 2016, Berdal finished fourth at the Marcialonga. In the 2017/18 season he won the Marcialonga and came second in the König-Ludwig-Lauf. The following year he won the Wasalauf and came fourth in the overall ranking of the Ski Classics 2018/19 . In January 2020 he won the Marcialonga.
