Gatehouse (Mering)
The gatehouse in Mering , a market town in the Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg in Bavaria , was opened in the 16./17. Century erected. The gate building at Herzog-Wilhelm-Straße 6 is a protected architectural monument .
The two-story, narrow Satteldachbau northwest of the Catholic parish church of St. Michael , the core dates from the 14th century, was with the adjoining gable roof house temporarily the residence of the sacristan . Today the parish archive is located there. Until the relocation of the cemetery in 1862, the gatehouse and the adjacent buildings served as a cemetery fortification.
In the side niches of the passage there is a crucifixion group painted on wood and a sculpture of St. Leonhard from the 18th century.
