Torricella is a district ( fraction , Italian frazione ) of Magione in the province of Perugia , Umbria region in Italy .
geography
The place is located 2.3 km northwest of the main town Magione and 18 km west of the provincial and regional capital Perugia on Lake Trasimeno . The place is 261 m slm and had 204 inhabitants in 2001. In the north the place borders on the municipality of Passignano sul Trasimeno , 1.3 km southeast is Montecolognola and 2.3 km southwest is Monte del Lago (both places are fractions of Magione).
history
The place originated in Roman times and was first mentioned on October 10, 1182. In the early 19th century there was a relay station . Ferdinando I di Borbone's stays in 1816 and 1824 are documented here. In 1820 and 1825 Leopold of Naples and Sicily and his wife Maria Klementine stayed in the village. Today's main street was built in 1895 to replace the previous one with many ascents and descents.

- Chiesa di San Cassiano , church ruins approx. 500 m east of the town center. Originated in the 14th century (documented in 1342) by the Order Ordine Gerosolimitano (also Cavalieri di Malta , then the Sovereign Order of Malta ).
