Leopold of Naples-Sicily

Leopold Johann Joseph Michael of Naples-Sicily (* July 2, 1790 in Naples , † March 10, 1851 in Naples), Prince of Salerno , was a member of the House of Bourbon and the House of Bourbon-Sicily .

He was the 15th child or the sixth son of Ferdinand I, King of the Two Sicilies and his wife Maria Karolina of Austria . On July 28, 1816, he married his niece Archduchess Maria Klementine of Austria in Schönbrunn Palace . The connection resulted in four children, of whom only one daughter, Maria Karolina , reached adulthood. With the dancer Fanny Elßler, Leopold fathered an illegitimate son named Franz.

Leopold is buried in the Basilica of Santa Chiara in Naples.
